François-Auguste Magon was one of the most powerful ship-owners in the heyday of Saint-Malo and a director of the French East India Company.
Built in 1725, the house is listed as an Historic Monument (interior and exterior) so as to protect its authenticity and garantee that the restoration respects historical accuracy.
The Privateer's House is open for visits and available for functions.
